Gold Standard Waterproof AR 670-1, but Order your Size Carefully
DEC 20205'11", 170 lbs, Atheltic Build Small-Regular /Medium-Regular sized, Army Boot size: 9, Converse Chuck Taylor Size: 9, New Balance/Adidas Sneaker Size: 10Salomon X Ultra/Quest 4D/Sneaker Size: 10If your issued boot size is 9, buy a 10. The fit of these boots matches my size 10 Hiking Boots and sneakers. These run to sneaker and hiking boot size, NOT Army or Workboot size. Keep this in mind when ordering.Salomon has finally answered the prayers of many Soldiers and Airmen by making an AR 670-1 approved boot that can be worn both in garrison and while deployed. As far as I can tell they have succeeded. These are the CSWP (Salomon's in house replacement for Goretex) variant of the Guardian boots, so not for hot weather. These are for Intermediate to Cold Weather environments, not hot and humid environments. There's a real lack of AR 670-1 approved high quality waterproof boots that are leas than $200 and notThe construction is top notch and after walking through some deep puddles up to the 6th eyelet I can confirm they are waterproof. For how long? Who can say. Even Goretex will eventually fail, but like I said these boots are very well made and I predict they will last.Comfort-wise I can tell I need to break them in a bit more, which is par for the course with Salomon and most boot makers, especially for Army approved boots.Over all I'm satisfied with these boots out of box, I needed waterproof AR 670-1 boots and have been waiting for Salomon for meet this demand. DO NOT WEAR THESE IN HOT AND HUMID ENVIRONMENTS, you'll get trench foot. I've run into multiple Privates wearing cold weather boots in the heat, recipe for a heat casualty.I'll update this review next December to show wear. Everyone I know who has worn these in the field have only had positive things to say.

. Paramilitary and security forces get first dibbs on the really cool stuff Solomon makes
👍..update. iv had them for several months now and do landscaping so im on and off pavement..i have purchased meny different Solomon boots. High End models. Non winter versions. Some tread designs last longer because is sucks to spend over 200$ on boots that the tops are still perfect and the bottoms are worn down to slicks to quickly. These boots i was warned the heal bed will collapse and they did and i had to triple up on heal bedding. Developed side heal calluses..but with all that said. And all the other brands i have tried. These are very dry boots. Very pleased with the waterproofing. Id give them a 95 out of a 100 on that. The tread lasted alot longer than i expected compared to other Solomon boots. But even though mine are getting tired they are still comfortable and literally fit like a glove. Solomon has the best craftsmanship holding your foot in place walking on side slopes and foot dosnt slide off to the side of sole. Im getting another pair. Down side..heal bed..Solomon by the the way has contracts with particular military and European countries and they get the good stuff..as civilians we get the sport versions..do some research on this and check out some of the boots they make for paramilitary outfits..iv asked Solomon if i could buy those and they wont sell them..they are exclusively for that group..

Met expectations
Tried them on and they met my expectations for fit and comfort. As for how they will hold up in the field I’m not to concerned.

Comfortable right out of the box
The media could not be loaded. Been wearing them 8-12 hours a day for couple months on concrete and ladders. Most comfortable boot I’ve ever owned, first day I wore them I forgot I had feet they were so comfortable. Little stiff but to be expected with new boots. Will definitely buy another pair after I wear these out

2nd Pair Purchase (photos)
Durable. Comfortable. Supportive.I’ve had these boots for just over a year and just bought my second pair to begin the “break-in” process. These boots are extremely comfortable from day one and although they do get significantly more comfortable over time, I could ruck miles in these right of the box (because I did). Love the ankle support, not stiff, but rather padded. They aren’t heavy. And the inserts are wonderful and I never considered replacement. My only negative… wish they had drain holes for swamp terrains or pool training. All feet are different but mine have stayed strong in these boots.

Excellent boots
I have worn these boots everyday for the last 60 days. They fit true to size, no hot spots, waterproof and comfortable all shift. I usually exchange insoles for superfeet but these are first rate. I highly recommend these for duty, range etc. I have never been disappointed with Saloman.

Overall great product
I wish this rating system would let me give these shoes a 4.5. I’m a big Salomon shoes fan. Really like their products for comfort, looks, and durability. These are right up there with the better products. The ONLY negative is the same thing everyone else seems to be saying...they are not well ventilated. My feet don’t typically sweat but they do in these boots. In their defense, they are water proof/resistant. There is a bit of a break in period too but bad at all. I wore them around for a couple weeks before doing anything crazy with them. No issues at all. The size was true to my other Salomons also.
