It has been a couple months since I bought this beautiful and quirky little girl and she has grown and thrived in my 10 gal. The package came when promised and it consisted of a medium sized box full of what seems like ripped up newspaper or something. After digging through the box for what it seemed forever, I finally found a tiny styrofoam cup with a lid. When I opened it, there was a plastic bag containing the nerite. There was just the right enough amount of water for the snail to be submerged and could move around. She was very much alive and well, she was even moving around when I removed her from the cup. Upon arrival, she was on the younger end (didn't even have antennae yet!) and it is quite pleasing to watch them grow and mature in your tank. I have seen some reviews of people complaining about how the snails don't have as vibrant colors as the pictures and even though that may be true, you are ordering a living thing, not a decoration. Variations in their appearances will occur and there is more to the snail than their shell! My particular snail's shell pattern is beautiful and has some faint light brown/yellowish stripes that have shown up as she has grown. I love my new pet, she is quite fast for a snail and spends her days searching for algae.I got this snail primarily for algae control purposes and let me tell you, she has done an INCREDIBLE job. The tank was infested to the point that I could not clean it completely. In just three days, it was all gone. She ate hair algae, diatoms, spot algae, and green algae, absolutely everything. She has done such a good job that now I feed her blanched cucumber slices as a supplement to her diet (do to this you boil a small piece of cucumber and then immediately put it in ice cold water and let it rest for a bit, then you add it to the tank). With all this said, I wholeheartedly recommend this product and Aquatic Arts. I can definitely say that Aquatic Arts are doing an amazing job in protecting their animals during shipment so they can make the trip healthy and alive. I have yet to see another company painstakingly apply so many levels of protection for their animals as well as add a little card explaining the history behind the company (that is a really cute addition and I enjoyed reading it!) They also seem to be taking very good care of their animals and plants on site even before shipping them off due to how healthy the snail (and some plants I bought) are. I would most definitely buy from them again, thank you AA!

Do NOT Buy This; Can Become a Pest
My advice would be to go to your local pet store, the snails there are usually 3-4$ and are reliable because you can see them. I purchased this snail thinking I was paying a little extra for a more brightly colored nerite, and instead I received a brown ramshorn. This isn't even a type of nerite snail. This particular type of snail will eat the anacharis plant I have in my aquarium, and I have nowhere else to put it. Being the wrong species of snail, it looks absolutely nothing like the "photo" given of this product.I will not be buying from this seller again, and I would advise you to do the same, because rams-horn snails can become a pest problem in any given aquarium if you happened to order more than just one. These snails reproduce in fresh water, unlike nerite snails, which reproduce in saltwater/brackish water. The reason I was trying to purchase a nerite snail is so that it would NOT reproduce in my freshwater tank. As you can see by several other reviews on their product page, many have had issues of their snails breeding in their tanks, likely because this seller sent them the wrong kind of snail.I am extremely disappointed that I spent 14$ on a snail that will inevitably become a pest. A huge waste of money. Do NOT buy this snail.

The snail came alive and well and is starting to lighten its colors. This seller is awesome and will respond to any questions or concerns you may have. I have bought a decent amount from them over this past year and have not had one complaint. They also have a website where they have even more for sale if you google "AquaticArts".I have never had a Nerite snail before, only Mystery snails. I guess I was expecting it to be more active due to being used to Mysteries. He does move and cleans just not as active as a Mystery, Seems kinda lazy. If you want an active fun snail to watch with a personality go for the mystery snails. If you want this one for its coloration be aware that it will probably come as a dark brown color but over a few months it will turn back to its original colors with proper care and diet. I have had mine for a couple weeks and is already starting to turn lighter in color.

They all died within a week
I had about 2 DOA's but I wasn't particularly unhappy with it. Well, they died one by one within a week and I regret my purchase, but I'm not gonna request a refund cause I never took pictures.

love these snails!
I got my first tiger nerite from Aquatic Arts a couple months ago, and I love him so much I decided to get another. These 2 snails are perfect for my 10 gallon planted tank because they never eat the plants, though I catch them sitting on the leaves and polishing them. They also make sure there is literally zero algae on the glass. The snails don't usually "hang out" together, so if you've ever thought "Does my solitary nerite want a friend?"; he might not care. But I like having two, in case one is hiding I can still look at the other. They really are fascinating to watch. I got the first snail with the initial intention of algae control (which he excelled at), but they're just cool little animals. Their skin underneath the shell is zebra striped- it's rarely noticable unless they're in action across the rocks. I'm enjoying the learning experience of keeping these beautiful creatures. Great quality as always from Aquatic Arts. The snails are shipped in exceptionally invincible packaging, in a bag of water inside a cup, inside a box full of soft, recycled paper insulation with a heat pack. There is still some stress associated with shipped, regardless of how fantastic this seller's packaging is. I thought snail #2 was dead-ish when he arrived, but after being in thr new tank for a couple days, he is good as new.
