I originally purchased this back in March 2021 (Sold by: Chnee Direct). I recently got a laser engraver (Atomstack A5 Pro) and used leftover pieces from my March 2021 project. It worked great and was really easy to work with! I was getting pretty good results even if my engraving settings were not dialed in.Since I needed more pieces, I ordered more on November 2022 (Sold by: Herdxfve). It was horrible! I didn't even think about the seller or buying from the same seller from March 2021. I figured it would have been the same product/same quality, regardless of seller, especially as both shipped from Amazon. Oh boy, was I wrong.Firstly, it measured 6.25" by 4". Depending on your project, you might like the extra material. However, it would have been an extra cutting step for me, since I needed it to be 6" by 4". I could immediately tell the difference by touch. The one sold by Herdxfve was thinner, had a different texture, and was more shinier/glossier. I feel like whatever is making it glossy is also changing the texture, like it's a harder texture. The one sold by Chnee Direct did not have this shine and felt smoother/softer. My calipers confirmed the thinness; the Herdxfve was measuring at around 1.5mm, whereas the Chnee Direct was measuring at around 1.85mm. The color was also different; the Herdxfve was lighter, but I didn't mind that too much -- pieces can vary in color, even within the same pack.All that said, I wouldn't have minded the differences, if it engraved fine. Unfortunately, it did not. I used the same exact settings; just adjusting for the differences in thickness. The engraving quality was not even close and looked horrible. I tried different settings and I just couldn't get anything acceptable. The Herdxfve made it look like my engravings were very high contrast; I got light burns and dark burns, but was very difficult to get anything in-between.Not even realizing until writing this review that I had ordered from a different seller, I ordered a similar product from a completely separate listing (B08L62VSH1, Sold by SIWUCHYE), which felt a lot closer in quality to the Chnee Direct -- and that engraved fine. Still, probably not as good as the engravings I was getting with Chnee Direct, but good enough, and without having to make any adjustments.Anyway, if I had bought again from Chnee Direct, who's to say that it would have been the same quality from my March 2021 purchase? But I guess I might give them a shot again in the future, and will update this review then.I also feel lucky that I had leftover pieces from my Chnee Direct purchase. Otherwise, I would have never guessed different listings, and even different sellers within the same listing, could affect the project quality so much. If I had bought the "wrong" wood from the start, it may have turned me away from laser engraving altogether. (I'm glad I didn't, because laser engraving has been so much fun!)

At first I was about to give up on this product. I wanted to cut some simple shapes for Christmas ornaments. I have a Cricut Maker and was sure that these balsa wood pieces would cut easily. Using the material setting for balsa wood just would not work. The blade just wasn't cutting deep enough.So with trial and error, I have figured out how to get this wood to cut. If you are using the Cricut Maker, use the Heavy Chipboard material setting with the knife blade tool. It's a deeper cut with 24 passes. For simple shapes it's perfect. If your shape has more detail it could take a cut over an hour to complete (just as a note to you). I would have given this product a higher rating, but for my time and effort it took to figure this out I gave it 3 stars.I will buy again because I know what to expect. I hope this helps my fellow crafters.

What's to dislike? I ordered a bunch of little, wooden sqaures and that's exactly what I got! I will say that they were"clean" both on their edges and the wood its self didn't have any wierd stains or marks on them, like I've gotten feom other sources.My 7 year old and I are renovating and old messed up doll house and we cut the window shutters out of these pieces. They are easy enough to cut through with an exacto. They held the 2 coates of acrylic pai t with out any "under images" poppi g up from inder the paint, like has happened with wood gotten from other sources.I highly recommend!

I ordered single packs of these wood sheets twice to try them out and see if I liked the quality. I make mini pallet coasters with them, cutting the pieces with a box knife. The first two orders were fantastic, the boards cut well almost every time very little splintering and nice thickness.The third time I decided to buy 5 packs since it was a good price and I liked the boards after the first couple times around.... this is when I became not so thrilled... for some reason these 5 packs were different from the first 2. The boards are slightly thinner, they are dark on the sides like they've been laser cut which is annoying because it shows through when I stain the cut boards, they splinter a lot when I cut and are more difficult to cut in general. I can still make them work for what I'm doing but I really wish these were the same good quality as the first ones I bought.For the record all three orders were made within the same month, not like a lot of time had gone by for them to decide to change product. I hope they change back to the old ones by the next time I buy. If they haven't then I dont think I will be buying from them again after that.I also wish I could figure out how to contact them directly and see if there is anything they can do to rectify this.

These are exactly what I needed for my Christmas nativity project that I'm working on. These are actually nicer than what I was hoping for. They are all uniform, smooth and have no warping and they have no rough spots around the edges at all. Looks like they will take either paint or a stain very nicely too. I actually wasn't expecting them to be this nice and they will work out nicely in my project. I'm very happy with these little sheets and I'll be ordering some more in the future.

Esta madera balsa es muy buena para cortar con mi Cricut maker , estoy empezando con un proyecto de aretes y pienso que fue una gran inversión, fácil de trabajar y muy buen aspecto ya sea que deje los aretes naturales o les ponga mancha para madera, super recomendada , tanto que ya compré dos paquetes más y ya me llegaron ,lista para seguir trabajando y por supuesto que seguiré comprando más de este mismo proveedor (esperando que mi proyecto resulté)me llegaron en perfecto estado,y muy bien empaquetadas y rapidísima entrega

It did come apart at the tips of the tree but I believe that was probably because it was too thin. Used the heavy chipboard setting as said in the reviews. It cut through it. But it also cut almost completely through my strong grip mat 🤦🏽‍♀️ Will be trying the basswood setting as stated in other reviews.
