VERY happy with this purchase
So worth it !! I wasn't sure about spending the money without feeling the pieces. SO HAPPY I did. They appear to be worth alot more then $100, if I had them in my hand, ahead of time, I would have spent $200 on these pieces. They were delivered in just a couple of days, before the scheduled date. Individually wrapped, and double boxed. From India. I examined each one, not a single mistake. Each piece is in perfect condition. The knight is larger, but doesn't appear out of place at all. Not even close, if anything it makes the set nicer. The details on the knight is outstanding. The weight on all the pieces is perfect. they all have nice felt under them. The cut on the wood around the bottom is rounded going upward, so if you knock if over, it rolls back up. It is difficult, without a big whack, to knock it over. I hold and play with the extra queen during the game. The fell is smooth, they have clear coat on them. Besides from the knight, i would say the pieces are traditional looking. But to hold one in you hand, will put a smile on your face each time you do.My board is a chess table and the squares are 2". They fit PERFECT ! I'll attach pictures. I also have a fold up board that is 1.5" and they fit from edge to edge of the square. It works, but tight and doesn't look so good. The 2" is great !!I've played with my kids several times a day for the last week, and no complaints. We all love the pieces and enjoy playing with them. I HIGHLY recommend these. I know pictures are worth a thousand words, so I'll post pictures. Feel free to ask questions. But if you are considering them, i would say purchase. VERY WORTH THE PRICE.

Beautiful and substantial pieces
I just unboxed them. They came from India. Packaging was very good. Better than items I've purchased in America. Double boxed and taped nice and tight. Each piece was individually bubble wrapped and the larger pieces were double wrapped with foam and bubble wrap. The box came undamaged from Fed Ex. The finish on the pieces have a semi-gloss, almost matte finish, so no annoying glare from a shiny finish. They are smooth. No nicks or burrs. Pretty clean with good carving and consistent shape on every piece. The knights are nice and meaty with a very cool carving style. They feel good in the hand and the weight is really nice. These will fit nicely on a board with 2.25" squares. I think 2" squares might be a little tight for the larger pieces. They do look great. The darks could be a shade or two darker and the lights could be a shade lighter, but they match my board squares pretty closely, so I'm very pleased. I will say these pieces have exceeded my expectations, and I would definitely buy another set. I recommend them for sure.

My Most Luxurious Chess Set!
Since I started going to the Club Humidor in San Antonio, Texas, I wanted a luxurious Chess set such as the ones I saw for sale there. I've had and/or played on more Chess sets than I can recall, from ones home-made with color-coded aluminum nuts and bolts, to Renaissance, Mandarin, Aztec, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Conquistador-themed Chess sets - wooden, glass, marble or soap stone, PVC, and plastic - four- and three-way, and three-dimensional, as well as Chinese! (No, not Chinese Checkers, but Chinese Chess, a completely different game, similar to Chess, but with different pieces with different moves, including elephants and rockets, and zones, such as a throne "room" and a "river.")When I moved to California, my wife discovered a marble-topped Chess table at a secondhand store, worth hundreds of dollars, but on sale for $249.99. We bought it, but, unfortunately, it came with Chess pieces unworthy of it. I bought several sets to play on it, but none seemed nearly as luxurious as the table. Finally, I received this set today, and have already played with it against my wife and her father, and they both agree that it goes perfectly with the table, and is the most luxurious Chess set they have ever seen.I realize that the "experts" say the base of the King should have a little space around it on the squares it stands on, so this set would be the right size for two-inch squares, whereas my squares are only one and three fourths of an inch, but, personally, I prefer having such large pieces on such a small board. The description said that the base of the King was 1.7 inches in diameter, but there is a rim above the felt-covered and weighted bottom of each piece, which makes them appear to have larger bases, which, for me, was a pleasant surprise! The King and Queen fit perfectly in my squares, with no space on any side, except, of course, in the corners. The pieces have such a low center of gravity that I can tilt them more than 45 degrees, with their bases resting on the table, and, upon releasing them, they stand back up. They're like Weebles; they wobble, but they don't fall down! This set also came with a new, cloth, drawstring bag, which I don't need, to hold the pieces, since I am keeping them in drawers built into opposite sides of the table, but it is an elegant touch.I recommend that this seller offer potential buyers the option of purchasing a more luxurious case for the pieces, similar to the velvet lined boxes that sets of silverware come in. This set came in a cardboard box, with each, finely crafted piece wrapped in bubble wrap. For its price, this set is, to me, well worth a hundred dollars! And the shipping was free!

Did not get what I ordered!!
I ordered the Golden Rosewood/Boxwood Chess pieces. The pictures and description evokes very substantial triple weighted pieces with the king standing at 4” tall. I figured for the $99 price this would be a set I would be proud to display. What I received was a cheap folding wooden board with light weight small wooden pieces with very little detail or craftsmanship. The king in the set I received was only 2” tall. The company placed a sticker with the description of what I ordered on the outside of the box over the top of a sticker of the cheaper crappy set they sent me. This makes it seem like it wasn’t simply an honest picking or shipping mistake. Very disappointed in this purchase and will be sending this back!!

2in board looks beautiful
Very happy we purchased this set. I was looking for a nice wood set for our 3in square board. This set is for 2.25in, smaller sets are for 1.5 or 1.75. Based on answers to a previous question for a 2in board, I ordered and we're very happy. Set is nicely weighted and beautiful. The only downfall is that 'rosewood' is a fairly general term. Ours are more brown than the picture.
