Nature-Based Therapy: A Practitioner’s Guide to Working Outdoors with Children, Youth, and Families

A great place to start if you want to take your therapy work outdoors
This text should be required reading for any budding practitioner in the wide array of nature-based therapies; adventure therapy, wilderness therapy, and others. There have recently been a great deal of research articles and texts describing the therapeutic benefits of nature. However, there are too few books and resources of where a practitioner should start. This book fills that gap with a clinician-focused text about how to take your work outdoors so that your clients will benefit from it.

A very inspiring and practical guide to start taking a therapeutic practice outdoors.
This book inspired me in many ways and gave me enough courage to start working with my clients in a different setting. Authors write about Nature-based Therapies in a beautiful way, explaining those concepts and sharing their personal stories. It was a real pleasure to read that.

A practical resource
Nature-Based Therapy is a practical guide for practitioners. It covers theoretical perspectives and expands on the literature of working with families which have typically been centred around wilderness/adventure therapy. I particularly enjoyed the ecological perspectives and the case vignettes, which could help new or seasoned practitioners to take their work outside.

Essential book
I totally recommend this gem. A book that reviews from many angles several areas of this field that are key to develop nature-based practices, from adventure therapy to ecopsychology and many other practices, regardless of the name and definition. The authors manage to go into the essence with professional and personal experiences that are thought-provoking and encouraging to keep learning and working in the field of helping people and nature. It has become one essential to learn as a beginner and to go deeper as a practitioner in many different topics within the umbrella of nature-based practices. Dont hesitate,go get it and go outside!
