1 OF MY FAVORITE GAMES!
Wow, what can I say? This game is AMAZING. It's so CREATIVE, and just so fun to play! I'm sad I'm at the end and almost finished but there's so much to see and do and explore in this game that I can def go back and collect more trophies and stuff. I love the whole concept of it and the idea behind it, not to mention the art and the artistic direction! Keep it up, Ninetendo!now, I haven't played any of the previous paper mario games so I can't compare it to that, but on it's own just as a paper mario noob I am in love! I wish all the games were this fun on switch.I know one thing I was concerned about was the battle system in this game. But, I'm at the end and I'm still not sick of it! It's challenging and fun, and doesn't get old like you think it might. For anyone who loves adventure games with lots of creativity and fun, this is for you!!!

Fun game, nostalgic with a new twist
I enjoyed this game for the most part. I’ve been a Paper Mario fan since the N64 days! Great nostalgia with a new take on the series. It had some interesting concepts. I would love to see more Paper Mario games but maybe more so like the previous titles in this series. Again, I enjoyed the game play well enough and got my money’s worth but the story line felt lacking and a little rushed. As an adult player, I couldn’t stop thinking that the creator got bored in their office one day, had a deadline to meet and looked at everything on their desk and made it in to a boss in the game. It also would start to feel repetitive with enemy battles and it started to feel like a nuisance when trying to explore the world and get trophies to have to avoid enemies just out of annoyance.

Mario never disappoints
Fun Mario game for all ages. Purchased as gift for teen son and have also played. Cute storyline with great visuals. Price was fair and nothing was damaged when received.

Pretty good
First, I'm a lifelong Nintendo player and have been playing the Paper Mario series since it first came out when I was a kid. I liked this game for the most part. I give it about...oh, an 86/100.The good:- The graphics of this thing look incredible, and I long to see remakes of the two first games that look like this one did.- The storyline is fun and engaging, and the devs for this game clearly did as much as they were able with the apparent severe limitations on creation of new characters they have to contend with. As ridiculous as the concept of evil office supplies sounds, they made it work well enough. Exactly where else am I going to find a hole puncher that dances disco and has such an awesome boss battle theme?- Speaking of which, the music was really good. I hope a soundtrack is released at some point.- The gameplay was fun as well for the most part, but if there's one thing that kept this game from being truly great, it was the extremely annoying ring puzzles.- Olivia is also super cute and sweet and fun, and a much more memorable character than Kersti and Huey were combined. I would adopt her if I could.- *SPOILER* Olly was exactly the kind of petty, vindictive villain I feel like we need more of. The game really hammered home just how petty and awful his motive was, and fully acknowledges that he did too much to be forgiven. Which is always nice to see in this current hellscape where every villain must be a conventionally attractive dude with bad and/or greasy hair and a sorta sad past that both the author and certain members of the audience will try to use as an excuse for him committing like genocide and other atrocities. This game said no to all that.- The use of the papercraft setting to insert a certain kind of horror into the story at a lot of points was, I felt, also done pretty cleverly.- This is the kind of game that probably only Nintendo could manage to pull off, but what else is new.The bad:- Again, the ring puzzles. Many of them were really annoying, and if you don't manage to figure them out by a certain point then good luck and get ready to waste some uses on a weapon!- I'm hardly the only person to be disappointed with the loss of the first two games' formula and rich world of colorful NPCs and storytelling, and unfortunately, for all that the dev team put in as much personality into the NPCs as they were able to, it really does stand out that they are just barely allowed to make distinct characters anymore.- For every Olivia, there were about 200 generics.- Even the ones they put a tad more distinction into weren't allowed to get TOO distinct; I feel like another thing holding this game back was that issue. It seems the devs themselves might be as annoyed by it as the rest of us are, though, as *SPOILER* this is actually something of a major plot point that the game literally never stops bringing up! At least we all get to suffer together, I guess.- Is it a company policy that if a Nintendo game has a segment where you must navigate a boat down a river, then the controls will be the single most annoying thing you will take on for at least the next decade?- Not to be all "modern games suck, I only do retro!" (and again, for the most part I did enjoy the gameplay) but the battle system in all PM games from Super to this one just does not measure up to the first two. As I understand it, they have a mandate that they have to switch it up in each new title, but to be honest this was a case of fixing something that was in no way broken and was better than its replacements.- I never want to see another generic Toad ever again, good grief.- *SPOILER (sort of)* As funny as the Legion of Stationary was, I really do think that OCs of preexisting species would have been better and more fitting as bosses. The LoS comes out of nowhere and is not ever really explained, which, again, sticks out against the likes of OG PM's and TTYD's bosses and their actually being a part of the world around them.- *SPOILER* And finally...the death of a certain someone at the end felt unnecessary and tacked on, like it was only done to be a quick and easy way of explaining why they will never show up in another game after this one.I do like this game, and will almost certainly be replaying it. But I'm also going to criticize its problems, because they didn't need to exist and seem to have done so anyway for no good reason. I don't know why these weird mandates at Nintendo have been made, but frankly they are holding games like this one back from their full creative potential, and should be majorly dialed down.

engaging and fun
For a lot of fans from the old school Paper Mario RPG games, the game is a disappointment. As someone who played Paper Mario games in the past but did not enjoy them, this game has managed to keep my attention and I’m finding it quite enjoyable. The dialogue is funny and the story line and tasks are engaging. There’s lots to explore in the worlds and plenty to tickle that compulsion to 100% complete everything. I’ve only recently (within the last 3 years) started to appreciate RPG and turn-based battle, and Paper Mario Origami King just flew to the top of my list of favorites of this style.
