Q: does the backpack support a hydration system?

Yes it does actually it’s pretty cool set up you can just use the pack or chest rig separately or link them together as one unit

Q: Will scar h or ar-10 mags fit?

Extremely tight. Tough get out during a speed reload

Q: Will a full size glock fit in one of the mag pouches? i plan on using this as a backcountry hiking/SAR rig

I don't have a Glock to test but I do have a Hi-Point 45 and it fits snug so I would say yes, in one of the rifle mag pouches, but not the pistol mag pouch. Don't hesitate on this, this is the rig you want. I do the same as you with backpack hiking backcountry and I love this set up. I've been doing this a good 10 years and this is my best bag yet.

Q: Will molded platic insert like the haley strategic ones work with this rig?

This is a nearly perfect knockoff of the Haley. I don't see why not. The micro 3 mag one definitely will take the haleys
