I'm a 35 year old female with moderate adult acne that is definitely hormonal. I mainly get whiteheads and blackheads with the occasional cystic breakout as well. I started using this soap about 2 months ago, after trying just about everything else on the market. I liked the idea of it being a more "natural" product, although I must admit I was skeptical - lard? Lye? Really? I cut the bar in half and use half in the shower and one by the sink. While I didn't see results overnight, after about 4 weeks of using this soap, my skin had definitely cleared considerably! I'm really impressed! Does my skin look like porcelain? No, and I definitely still break out a bit depending on that time of the month, but I'm very satisfied with the improvement and plan to continue using it. I bought this because I was desperate! I'd had a baby in the past year and my skin was just out of control! I go for regular facials, I use expensive products, I never ever ever forget to take my make up off and my skin was just progressively getting worse :( so I thought maybe it was time to venture out. I ordered this based on the goood reviews. I started out using this 3 times a day and really noticed a difference almost overnight! Now this hasn't cleared out my pores (gotten rid of my black heads) but I feel like it's def helped with breakouts! I had lots of bumps all over my face before this but after the first night those small bumps went away. I did however develop several large painful bumps but I found that if I kept at it and left them alone (SSSOO hard for me!) then they went away on their own in 2 days! I've always had horrible skin but it looks the best it has looked in a long time. The only thing I've found comparible to this is my local spa's chemical peels but who can afford to do that every couple weeks? Certainly not me! I'll keep using this combined with my Image Total Retinol-A night creme and pray that these results aren't just a fluke.Some helpful advise: cut then bar into 2 pcs as soon as you get it and use one at a time. It will help the bar last longer. I keep one pc in each bathroom. The problem is that if this gets left wet it kind of melts away so the smaller the bar the less that can melt away.

Hi, I bought these to try and clear the breakouts I have been having all around my chin and below mouth. Im a 26 year old and haven't had acne this bad since my younger teen years. This product has been excellent so far. It did make me break out worse in the beginning as stated. However it was very mild and just brought acne to the surface then quickly cleared up (barely any redness). You do need to use this product 2-3 times a day for it to really work, however its quick, easy, and a single step acne treatment. I will be buying another bar when this one is gone. Great product for the price, especially if your spending over $20 dollars for other acne treatments.

It works great for acne. In addition, it is a very effective make up remover. I use "Yes they're real" mascara, which is tough to remove all the way. This soap takes it right off. My skin did not"purge", as some reviewers talk about. I have adult cystic again. I have had two rounds of accutane, but still suffer from acne. This soap helps keep me as clear as the accutane did. Which was almost completely clear. I haven't found anything more effective than this.

I bought this after suffering from pregnancy hormone induced acne, thinking that it would be a natural alternative to some harsher treatments. It leaves my face feeling tight and dry, like I've used a regular bar of soap on it. After giving it a good 2-week try, I have seen no difference in the condition of my skin. I DO recommend Dr. Brandt's line of cleansers to anyone looking for something gentle and mostly natural to cleanse problem skin. It is definitely a more expensive alternative, but to me it's been worth the $$.
