So close to perfect, but ultimately well worth the price.
First things first, lets be real clear. I've actually bought two of these. Not because the first one failed and I'm a glutton for punishment, but because I'm making a second bike for my wife to ride around on. So it's FAR from my complaints breaking the deal, there are just a couple things that rubbed me the wrong way. The worst thing is the little bag that comes with it to house the control mechanism. Its the worst. It's just a cheap bag with the wires hanging out the zipper. There's no reason why there can't be holes where the wires can come in and out in a well thought out way, or at least be big enough to house all the extra wires in addition to the actual control mechanism. Is it a big deal, no, I spent $15 on a new bag, problem solved, it just seemed silly is all.All the rest of these things are more my fault than the fault of the product. The axle on the wheel is 10mm, my fork accommodated a 9mm axle, I made it work, it was just annoying. After making that discovery I went back to the product descriptions and it said it on there, I just didn't know to look for it.The manual and directions were pretty useless, but the job was pretty straight forward. The little rubber cap that covers the nut on the side where the wires come out doesn't fit... not even a little bit... I'm not even sure why it's there. All that being said, I bought a used Santa Cruz mountain bike for a few hundred bucks, I bought this kit, and a $400 battery, a few other accessories, and at the end of it, I had a bike that cost about $1,000, and if I had bought a pre made bike with similar capabilities, it would probably have cost $5,000. I ride my bike to work and back twice a day now, it's a 3 mile ride one way, works like a champ. I'm more excited about going exploring local parks, I'm more inclined to ride my bike to run errands, and I get far more exercise than I would have without it. The blue wires that make the bike US compliant are an interesting thing. I've really glad that they're there. I've found that when the wires are disconnected (no longer compliant) that it basically turns the bike into a little electric motorcycle, probably goes about 25-30 miles per hour. At that speed, the peddling doesn't really contribute anything to your ride unless you're just getting stared from a stop, or going up a steep hill. I've found that when the bike is in compliant mode, that you can still peddle hard, and burn calories, and get everything that you're accustom to getting out of your ride, but without the worst part of bike rides (going up hills). So, in conclusion. Does this product perfectly hit the nail on the head, no. Is it super amazing and a great addition to anyone who's curious about it?? Absolutely.

Awesome!
I built this on an old Trek 4300 Mountain bike. Took me a few hours to build it as I didn't know what I was doing. The manuals can be a little hard to follow as they were written by someone whose primary language is not English.I did not install the pedal assist or the ebrakes. I did not have a crank puller tool so I didn't connect pedal assist , I don't think it is necessary anyway. The brake levers on my bike and shifters are a one piece unit so I could not use the ebrakes. I know the ebrakes add additional safety feature but if you don't use the the throttle it won't spin the wheels, also there is a power button on the throttle so you can kill the power it if you need to.The triangle bag isn't really made to house the control module as you have to leave the zipper open to output the wires, but it is useable.I purchased a battery to match the voltage, a 1000w 48v 15ah battery that came with the rack, i got it in black.I have hit speeds of 38mph and I'm sure it could go a little faster, I get a little nervous at that speed as the bike wasn't meant to handle that speed. I have taken this on 2 - 30 mile rides I did a combo of pedaling and motor especially up hill, and coasted downhill without throttle. I'm sure I can get about 50 miles or more out this configuration using the throttle conservatively. I can probably get 15 miles with just the throttle only and no pedaling.I also purchased a torque arm for the front fork as I have read on some forums that the powerful motor can spin out of the forks, especially on aluminum bikes.I ride it mostly on the road, I live in Upstate NY at the foothills of the Adirondacks. I'm not confident in taking this bike offroad unless I can secure the battery a little better. I think a water bottle mount type battery might be better for offroad.I definitely recommend the front wheel configuration as it is much easier to install and maintain, especially if you get a flat. By the way, I did purchase some green slime for the tires to make them as puncture proof as possible.I also picked up a Garmin Explore 250 dollar bike gps. I've been having a lot of fun with this bike. I'm ready to build my second bike!

Powerful, but not spinning freely
I installed this on a 7 speed beach cruiser to encourage myself to get more exercise. It is powerful and hits 30mph without pedaling. The PAS on it takes off with full power with a turn of the crank regardless of how fast they turn so the motor does most of the work, rather than giving you exercise. There is an issue when using without power or coasting. The wheel spins freely at times, which feels like regular bike but sometimes there is considerable resistance. Enough to wear you out if your battery died or you want to ride regular. I am working with vendor about the issue . If it spins without resistance all the time I would be giving 5 stars. I will update how dealing with vendor goes

Unable to locate a battery, as one did not come with the kit...

Making an electric bike ,buy this!
I purchased two of these no hub electric motors and I can't be happier they perform well above and beyond my expectations and what the manufacturer has claimed they have understated how great these hubs are

So far so good
It doesn't have a ton of torque, but it's good enough to climb pretty steep hills with no pedaling. It does have a decent fast top speed, and reaches it in around 7-10 seconds, depending on weight/road. What battery you get will greatly effect the performance/range of the motor so get a good one if you can. Be sure to upgrade to disk brakes and better tires, as most stock bikes wont have great brakes/tires. I got a flat on my rear tire that came with the bike and the V brakes are poor for slowing down a heavy e-bike. The stock tire this kit comes with is pretty meh, and only after 2 weeks of use the tread is nearly worn away, another good reason to upgrade to decent aftermarket tires/tubes. I'll revisit this review if something goes wrong with the motor or something, otherwise so far so good and got everything in the kit.
