Important step in opening Pack and Play
I take back the review I had placed about this being “defective”. It’s more like my brain was defective. And I’m sure all who has written a review about the side rails not staying up or sturdy probably missed this crucial step in setting it up.I initially had pressed down the middle portion of the crib before snapping the side rails in place. If you look at the instructions at the bottom of the pack and play it states that the first steps you need to do, when opening it, is snap all the side into place BEFORE you press the middle portion down to open it. If you don’t do it in that exact step then you would find that none of the sides will stay sturdy and put.Once I figured that out, the pack and play was easy to build together and it’s in great condition and quality for a pack a play!

Smells like rotten eggs and the quality is as sturdy as the eggshell the smell came from
OMG it smells sooooo bad!!! Like rotten egg bad. We kept it in our garage for a week and it still has a lingering smell. The built quality is also sketchy at best. This is our second pack n play and the obvious quality difference is immediately apparent. The cloth is like plastic vinyl and the rods are loose. Even if it wasn't for the smell, I would return it.

Hazardous
The, "firm mattress," is actually a foldable board that can only be secured if both sides are up. If you lower the side to put the bassinet beside your bed (which it will be much lower than unless you sleep in a toddler bed) then the mattress will flip or allow your child to become wedged. Very dangerous

Mattress moves, making it unsafe
Because of the way the support bars are under the “mattress”, if my baby rolls at all to either side of the bed, the “mattress” will tilt and she ends up smashed against the edge of the bed. The mattress is like a playpen bottom, multiple boards that fold. It doesn’t fit a pack n play sheet and a crib sheet made the boards move and slide on top each other. It’s the right idea for what I wanted but really has some major flaws, especially the tilting mattress. Seems really unsafe.

Eh...
Bought this so I could have baby beside me in a bassinet attached to my bed. Unless you have a toddler bed that's very low, it doesn't adjust to your bed's height. Disappointed but still seems like a decent bassinet for the little guy... Saw a previous review about the mattress thickness and they're spot on - it's not a mattress but rather a playpen bottom that is made up of multiple pieces of board so it folds. I've never had issues in the past with my littles sleeping on this type of bottom so I'm not worried about it.I would also like to add that the instructions are very hard to read because it's in broken English so it might take you a few times to figure out how different parts assemble together... No issue with smell when opening it. Bottom line is that it'll due as a bassinet but don't count on it being at the same height as your bed unless you have a lower one (I have a bed frame, box spring, and mattress). Overall it's not the best quality so if you are looking for quality then you should buy something else.
