Another album that has more gojd music than mediocre
I am forever searching for music I haven't heard in ages..... and ghis cd doesn't disappoint. I'm old school who likes the physical disc as I've lost a few music tracks, once streamed, to hard drives I cannot access. Therefore, if you like to listen to obscure 70s sounds... this cd could bring back a memory or two!!!

Not Quite Buried, But Almost
This is a wonderful three compact disc set. Make no mistake about that. I have one of those multi CD changer units, and I have had the three discs on loop for a couple of days. Yes, I know I am sad. 64 cracking tunes from the decade that brought us such a variety of music. Now, I am not usually so nerdy, so please forgive me. The title of this collection is “Buried Treasure”. I am assuming that it was meant to imply that most, if not all of the tracks were not on other “various artists” compilations, and not that they are not available on any form of CD, maybe from the artists themselves. I own some 950 CD albums, of which about 100 are various artist compilations. All but 12 of the tracks I was able to find on other Cds. Of the 64 in total, I found 25 on other compilations. It is actually interesting to note, just as an example, 10 CC’s I’m Mandy Fly Me, I could only find on their album, How Dare You and, their greatest hit. Yet, I’m Not In Love, I have found on 7, various artist compilations. If therefore, you are looking for a compilation of stuff not flogged to death in other releases, this is it. I should perhaps note that the 25 I did find on other compilation albums, were on more, what I would call, specialist titles, such as 100 Soul & Disco Classics. Although a number were also found on 70’s Diner Party. It is an interesting mix too. To be honest, one or two should never have been discovered. But that is a personal view. If you are familiar with “Gold” radio stations in the UK, it is so refreshing to find tracks that have not been played to death on those stations. Seven of the tracks were not even top 40 hits in the UK, so it is interesting that they were included. I was pleased to see, Yellow Dog, Just One More Night and Fiddler’s Dram, Day Trip To Bangor, included. If you are a seventies music nut, like me, you should enjoy this as I did.

Certainly varied
This collection was pretty cheap, so the fact that I have most of the good tracks anyway is by the by. One track has always eluded me, Paul Simon’s, ‘Slip Slidin’’ Away’, therefore it’s great to get other good tracks to accompany this much wanted track. As with collections like these, you do end up with a number of turkeys but you put up with them for the greater good. The lesser good loses the star!

Quirky and happy go lucky vibe
I like to be offered something that I’ve forgotten and these numbers are quirky and great listening.

mixed bag
it is a mixed bag to be sure, and some strange bedfellows on here ... Bay City Rollers and Siouxie sharing a comp? ... still, this makes an interesting mix of music overall, and for the price it is great value. There are some great soul / funk / disco tracks on here that don't normally pop up on these comps... Harold Melvin's Satisfaction Guaranteed, Jackson Sisters I Believe in Miracles, Vicki Sue Robinson etc. The only tracks I skip are the Star Wars disco theme and Fiddler's Dram [awful guff].
