Yet to expose it to rain whilst in use, but took it camping on the beach over uneven and bumpy roads as well as high speed highway driving and it was perfect. Fits a heap of gear and straps down securely. Nothing loosened and the door hooks worked perfectly.

We went camping 2 adults, a teenager, a child and a dog. We utilized all three rows of our SUV and could only fit the two coolers in the trunk.We installed the hooks inside the door seal. Stretched out the bag out unzipped but with the flap still shut. Laid it across the top of the SUV, lifted the flap/lid open and filled it up. Once filled we zipped it, bucked the clips and tightened the straps. Easy peasy. Zipper is heavy duty and the bag seems durable. It rained overnight and no water got into our car (from having the buckle hooks there) or inside the bag since it was zipped. It fit our Toyota Highlander perfectly and could be used on a small car too. Very universal product.Contents included: 4 camping chairs, a paddleboard (inflatable of course), a 10person tent, 4 single inflatable camping mattresses, 4 sleeping sheets (it was 98*), two 14” fans, two cast iron pans and miniature propane grill, toys, clothes, lanterns, and all other simple camping supplies. We still had some room left over. It looks so small but fit soo much!Would highly recommend!

We used it for a three-day road trip, and had "0" drama!Contents were dry after a moderate rainstorm. Absolutely no shifting of the load. Filling/unloading was a bit awkward, but that was expected. (Dodge vans are quite high.)This is a high quality, well designed, heavy duty, durable product.Comments:We put all items that could be water damaged into large garbage bags--this was unnecessary but cheap insurance, and made loading unloading easier. Pro-tip, use clear lawn & leave garbage bags so you know where things are.Loading/unloading was made easier with a three-step folding ladder. One more item to pack!Best of all!!! A lot of the load was one-way, so we were able to take the bag off of the roof for the return trip.Advantages compared to clam-shell units:- less expensive.- larger capacity.- easier to put on and take of of vehicle.- not a semi-permanent installation. (More practical if you have a garage to fit into.)- easy to store unit when not in use.Disadvantages:- might scuff roof (ours did not, at all).- less "classy" looking.In summary:- great for occasional use!- for frequent use, easily competes with plastic Clam Shell units.GREAT practical solution.

I bought this for a short road trip we took this weekend in our 2014 Infiniti QX80. I was on the fence on buying a hard, fixed roof storage box or a tow hitch storage platform. I decided to go this route and don't regret it. It held our stuff perfectly! We traveled in two vehicle for a total of 9 people...so we had a lot of stuff. The 28 cubic foot size was perfect; as we had an assortment of stuff; including 2 carry-on bags, several handbags, boxes of food, blankets, jugs of water, clothing, cleaning supplies, and lots of loose items. I was surprised that none of the stuff shifted around...not even the loose items! It rained during the whole trip and nothing was wet! The straps were really strong. I drove from 80-100MPH down the highway and it did not budge. I used 6 of the 10 straps during the trip. You could occasionally hear the unused straps tap the roof of my truck in the wind. You can feel slight wind resistance because of the change in aerodynamics but it did not make significant wind noise. The straps did not loosen at all. I must say that the center straps are a tad too short. They barely reached the buckle. I strapped the bag to my roof rails. I did not use the included hooks that go under the weather stripping. The 3 inner bags included are trash though. They are made of cheap, thin materials and the zippers were already broken when I opened the box. But I don't care about those as they are impractical anyway. I highly recommend this product if you want a large, removable storage solution for your vehicle.

A great choice to add much needed cargo space. Drove mine on SUV roof for a week trip across Canada . Water and elements proof and maintains shape . I brought along several rolls of strong tape to resecure the flapping ends of tie downs that come with unit, as they will work loose in the wind. The tie down actual clamps proved reliable.
