Q: Would this work for a patch on the side of the head

It depends how big and if any hair to thicken around it to cover the patch. I personally have a burnt patch which has some hair round it so once those are thickened it hides it well

No they are fibres that attach to the hair, not colouring. Although obviously you have to match the colour. Just sprinkle on to existing hair and this thickens the hair

Q: With natural black hair would dark brown be the better choice? I was advised if I ever need hair dye, to go dark brown not black.

Hi, We find that if your hair is not JET BLACK, but indeed more of a NATURAL BLACK, that the dark brown seems to favour most of these users. Some even use a mix of the black and dark brown, but i would advise to try the dark brown first :) Hope this helps
