Brass coupling trailer caravan hitch lock key style

First of all, please note, contrary to what some of the advertising may say, this device will not lock your trailer while it is off the towball, it locks the trailer TO the towball only. This is a small, brass bolt-type thing, with a keyhole. It is itself keyhole shaped, with the ability to 'swivel' in the middle, thus putting it out of alignment, which then makes it impossible to remove from the keyhole in your trailer handle. So. Place this device in your trailer-handle keyhole, (if it has one, if not do not buy this device) turn and remove the supplied key. The 'bolt' stays locked in the keyhole. In this situation, the trailer hitch can no longer be removed from the towball. So DO NOT loose the supplied keys! Equally, no-one else can remove the trailer from the towball, so safe for you to pop into the motorway services etc. etc. Would advise against being overly heavy-handed when using, as the keys with the 'device' I received with my second-hand trailer were all bent, one almost sheared in half, keys are fairly flimsy. Bought this for my new Erde trailer which has keyhole slot for lock on pressed steel coupling, this was a perfect fit, Not a visual deterrent but seems to do the job will certainly stop the opportunist.

This hitch lock did not fit my Erde 102 trailer as the brass barrel was too long causing the key not to turn making the whole hitch lock absolutely useless. It advertised to fit Erde trailer hitches but it does not. When I contacted SWD to complain I was told that I would have to return it (at my expense!) via the Ebay shop. Impossible! Not very happy. Found a more reliable supplier. SWD customer service is non-existent.

This is not an Erde product as the details suggest. This is a Carpoint keylock that you can buy for £5 elsewhere. I figured that as the details said Erde was the manufacturer and that you were paying nearly double the price, that I'd receive a quality product worthy of the extra charge. But alas I was mistaken. You do receive a note asking for a 5 star review though! Sending ironic notes is a nice touch.
