Q: How do you refill the feeder? I'm afraid of breaking it.

Carefully unscrew the yellow part from the plastic see through part. Then fill up plastic part, and screw the parts together, being careful not to be too heavy handed. Hope this helps, and enjoy the Greenfinches. I have 6 of these feeders

Q: Why are finch feeders yellow? Is this part of why finches are attracted to them?

there have been surveys that suggest that yellow attracts some birds,including Goldfinch!

Q: two questions is the hook supposed to come with it ? also how do you open the port holes , do you take the white plastic

Yes the hook is included, although I did not use it, prefering to use flexible cable. Remove the white plastic to expose port holes. Dont be too optimistic about goldfinch visitors to it though.

Q: Will the rain guard i bought fit this feeder? its called " rain away " said on box, it fits most 2.5 " diameter. thought i was buying the feed

I haven’t seen the rain guard but this feeder is about 1.5” in diameter, maybe a fraction under that.
