Part two of the Ratchet and Clank PS3 trilogy - play them in the correct order
I bought my son (aged 13) Ratchet and Clank: A Crack in Time bundled in with his PS3 slim for Xmas, as he loved the PS2 Ratchet and Clank games (made by the creator's of the best PSOne kid's game 'Spyro the Dragon'). He really enjoyed the game, played it constantly, but commented it starts at a strange point in the story, like there's some part of the plot missing. My son then asked us to buy him Ratchet and Clank's 'Quest for Booty' and Tools of Destruction, which being older PS3 games are quite cheap now. It turns out that the three games are a trilogy which should be played in order for the good story-line to make sense. So if buying for an older child [in particular boys aged 9 to 16, who seem to idolise the series], do make sure you get them to play the games in the correct order: '1: Tools of destruction', '2: Quest for booty' and then '3: A crack in time'. The story completes in 'A crack in time'.This inexpensive second game 'Quest for Booty' is actually a very short one compared to 'A crack in time' and 'Tools of destruction', but naturally it's great fun none the less, and essential for filling in the 'Space Pirates' storyline (i.e. where's Clank?). My son thought it well worth buying. In terms of game-play age 7+ rated Ratchet and Clank has its roots firmly in Doom and Doom II - open any door for the first time and an array of [cute robot] baddies pop up requiring dispatching, with life, ammo, and new fun guns hidden about the map. The magnetized Clank also collects the disintegrated robot parts [bolts] to unlock more useful stuff throughout the game and there's the usual tougher bosses to eliminate at the end of levels. We didn't find any glitches in any of these PS3 Ratchet & Clank games - they patched when necessary on first install. Also check out the Ratchet & Clank 'Locked & Loaded' Trilogy (PS3), the Sly Trilogy (PS3) and the Jak and Daxter Trilogy (PS3) - some of the best, if not the best older preteen/teenage boy friendly games on the PS2, all given hi-definition makeovers for the PS3.----------------------Update April 2014: When playing and rather enjoying the latest Ratchet and Clank Nexus (PS3) game, under 'disk benefits' my son was offered this 'Quest for Booty' game as a free download via the Sony Playstation store. At the same time he also downloaded the hi-def PS3 makeover of 'Ratchet & Clank Gladiator' from the Playstation store for £12 as he loved the game on PS2 - although he was sad there was no DVD hard copy of 'Gladiator (PS3)' for his treasured PS2/PS3 R&C case collection. Four years on, he still rates 'Quest for Booty' very highly within the context of the R&C PS3 trilogy.

Ratchet & Clank: Quest for Booty
Ratchet is back, but this time without Clank. After being kidnapped by the Zoni at the end of Tools of Destruction, Clank is missing and Ratchet is looking for him. When Ratchet & Talwyn encounter Rusty Pete again who brings back Captain Slag, who angers the ghost of Captain Darkwter and so Ratchet must fight an army of robot pirates in order to continue his search for Clank.A short and fun Ratchet adventure to bridge the gap between Tools of Destruction & Crack in Time.

Unbelievably short
This was a fantastic game, I'm a big fan of Ratchet and Clank games, and this one seemed set out to be one of the best I have ever played. Fantastic level design, very fun, good enemies and actually some very cool puzzles (which I've noticed are often absent from R&C games). But then all of a sudden, it's over.Seriously, like the first chapter of Tools of Destruction, is the whole game in Quest For Booty.Very, very good but very, very short.A shame.

Fun game
Bought as a gift for my nephews & they love it. Haven't played it myself personally but the kids say it's a good game :) One of them is 8 years old & described it as like a modern version of Crash Bandicoot lol.

disappointing...
I, like a few other reviewers, have followed the ratchet & clank games since 2002 when the series first came out. Having played from the first game recently, I finally bought myself a ps3 and played 'tools of destruction' which was great (apart from the annoying girly sidekick, but that's probably just me). At the end when Clank was taken, I was upset and rushed to buy this game thinking 'i have to save him!'. I've been playing for roughly 2 hours now, sounds like I'm nearly finished. I can't help thinking that Insomniac have just churned this out, and maybe didn't get full permission from the big bosses. Most of the things I love about this series of games (different planets with great graphics, secrets and side quests, crazy weapons with upgrade features, characters which were full of personality) are not in this game. I've met a lot of glitches too, which i've never come across in any of the previous games. Overall, the game feels quite immature, and the puzzles aren't hard at all. I love the pirates, that's the only thing I favour throughout the game! Very disappointed.
