We love this game!
This is a great game! The rules are a bit ambiguous at times, but if you stick with it, it is a lot of fun! We found that we just needed to jump right in and start playing the game as we read through the rules. We liked that you can be strategic in planning your moves, but it may or may not play out the way you planned. We found that it got even more interesting in the second round when the point values really increased. We highly recommend this game!

Great family game
Excellent family game. Requires some strategy. Fun to learn the different ways to earn points. Once you understand the mushrooms no reading required. Helpful for kiddos with dyslexia & a ton of math skill practice when adding up points reaching round.

Fun, Simple Game
This is a good easy enough game for kids Players pick cards that help them land on spaces that benefit them most while building up their mushroom garden and guessing what other players might do to throw off your movement. The element of circling around everyone’s gardens creates interactions with other players that feels more engaging than just building your own. You mostly are just finding out which cards and choices give you the most points, but that does get affected by what other players choices are on their terms. Our nine-year-old especially loves it - she particularly loves finding the prettiest mushrooms, regardless on whether they help her win or not.

Great game! Lots of fun!
Excellent game! Easy to teach to non-gamers and fun for them to play, yet thinky enough for gamers to enjoy, too.

Excellent game, great for families but also just a cool clever system
I consider myself a pretty serious, discerning gamer, and this one was a very pleasant surprise. The art and components are great and I love the smallish box size. The rules are easy to learn and I've taught it to few groups with no problems at all. The core mechanism is very simple but offers some interesting choices. I love watching your little mushroom area group and trying to plan out movement to maximize points. Mechanically it feel a bit like Sushi Go or 7 Wonders with drafting , but the movement adds a simple but very cool twist to the formula. Planning the mushroom types and picking the best movement makes for a cool decision, but light enough that it never feels stressful. This is such a perfect mix overall of something that's super easy to introduce to other gamers (easy to learn and play, visually appealing, quick play time) and also something I enjoy enough to be willing to play several times. This has certainly been one of the best new games I've found recently as just an great family-weight game that I'm actually excited to get in front of people. No hesitation at all recommending this one!

A fast, simple game with quality pieces, friendly theme, and clever play
When mushrooms grow and spread out, they often form a ring, one that can be many feet across. This is called a "fairy ring" or a "fairy circle." The belief is that fairies come out at dusk and play in the ring. This idea forms the core of Fairy Ring, a new game from Repos. It's bright, colorful, and includes excellent quality components, all in a fast game for four people that plays in under an hour.TL;DR—My family enjoys this fast-playing, competitive, good-looking game that fills a unique niche with its unusual game play. Fairy Ring is a winner.GAMEPLAYPlayers seek to score the most points by assembling a section of a fairy ring of different types of mushroom cards that reward players with mana (used to gain points) and movement. Some mushroom cards have fireflies, which scores mana for Luminarium mushrooms. Lookout mushrooms grow taller for more points. Pollinarium mushrooms give you points for all the mushrooms in your section. Spring mushrooms grant mana as fairies spring past it. Academy mushrooms grant mana for movement amounts. And Magidrome mushrooms are packed with mucho mana.Players start with a set of seven mushroom cards, draft one, play it, resolve the movement on it to move their fairy around the growing number of mushroom cards in each player's section of the ring, and accumulate mana based on the mushroom they land upon. Each player plays a card, moves, and takes mana. With all turns resolved, players then pass their deck of unused cards to the player next to them, and each player repeats, until only one card remains, and the round ends. Two rounds and the game concludes. The trick is that if a player's fairy lands on a mushroom in their own section, only they get the mana, but if they land on another player's mushroom, that player gets the mana—unless the active player also planted a mushroom of that type, in which case, both players get mana. If the active player lacks that mushroom type, only the inactive player would get mana. Every 20 mana accumulated gets cashed in for a point. There are two rounds of six cards each played, and then the game ends. The person who has converted the most mana into points is the winner. For a more advanced game, Fairy Ring includes objective cards that players can fulfill to accumulate additional mana.COMPONENTSThe game comes with mushroom cards, a player village (section) board, score wheels, mana tokens, player aids, a first player marker, fairy figures, and flower tokens for use with the objective card variant. Everything is excellent quality. The cards appear to have a thin plastic coating. The fairy standees and flower tokens are acrylic, the mana tokens are painted wood, and all these pieces are silkscreened. Very nice! The manual is a short eight pages, exceptionally clear and easy to understand, with great examples. One of the better ones I've seen.Overall thoughts…PROS+ Offers a family friendly theme+ Simple rules can be explained in just a few minutes+ Repos is a dependable publisher of quality games+ Repos has done an excellent job with game management, as the village boards and first player card holder makes it clear who has played and how the draft needs to proceed (a problem in some other games that use card drafting and passing)+ Setup is fast+ Plays in under an hour and the end comes after each player has taken 12 turns, so it's a known ending+ Excellent component quality+ Players need to weigh a number of factors, including giving other players points, which makes for a deeper game+ Objective cards add a good variant, and it's likely this game will offer an expansion that builds upon these and other parts of the gameMEH* For people who like to sleeve their cards, 54mm x 80mm is less common (though these are Catan-sized, so they should be available)CONS- None, honestlySUMMARYSome are already declaring Fairy Ring a candidate for the international game of the year, the 2025 Spiel des Jahres. It has great component quality and deep play for a game that can be explained in a few minutes. The people who play-tested it with me all enjoyed it. Recommended! Five stars.
