Unbelievably good deal
For £30.00, this was a seriously good deal. The hardbacks are pleasent to hold, the print quality is good where the text is legible. Highly recommended, especially as I prefer hardbacks of this size as it means I can comfortably carry them around in my backpack. I can't stress enough just how good of a set this is at this price. Closet to a complaint I have is the outer casing the books arrived in had a panel half torn out, but given it's effectively a shell, and the books themselves are fully intact as far as I can tell, it's only minor. I could argue too that the page gutter I feel is slightly too shallow, but that's sooner an OCD fueled nitpick.

Great set of paperbacks. Good print & binding.
Obviously Orwell requires no literary review from me, so I'll focus on the product rather than contents. This is a lovely set. The covers, print, spines and box are all very nice. They're really well made and look very nice on the shelf. I've seen zero print issues at all and the paper is of good quality. I'd definitely recommend these as a gift to introduce someone to Orwell, or if you're wanting to expand your collection. Definitely worth it.

Great compendium of Orwell's stories, great for a bookshelf, will certainly stand out.
If you are a George Orwell fan, then this has to be a pretty dececnt collection to line your bookshelves. I actually had no idea he had produced this many books. Note that not all of his works are here, but just his most popular choices. If you have never owned his books, but are thinking of doing so then this collection is a great way to get started. This is a paperback collection, bold bright covers with a smart box, in paperback format too. The quality of the paperbacks is standard, with standard page quality in terms of sheer value though, you are getting a lot in the box.You are getting the ten books as in: Animal Farm, 1984. A Clergyman’s Daughter, Burmese Days, Coming up for Air, Down and Out in Paris and London, Homage to Catalonia, Keep the Aspidistra Flying, Shooting an Elephant and Other Essays and the The Lion and the Unicorn. I have read four of these books, obviously 1984 will always be my favorite, I had no idea he had that many books, so I look forward to reading the rest of his titles too. The quality of the covers as I have already said is bright and bold, I would have liked to have seen the original covers, but they all match up, so will look good on any bookshelves as a collected works, they certainly stand out.Pros: 10 set of books, brightly colored covers, all bound in a single box.Cons: Paper quality is okay, I wish I could have seen the original covers too.

Beautiful collection of Orwell's books.
An amazing collection of 10 of Orwell’s works at a great price at £20.49 at the time of review. This includes classics like 1984 and Animal Farm, plus some lesser-known gems. The books are well-printed with clear text and sturdy hardback covers, and then a hard case to store all the books together, which I really like, as it keeps all of them together neatly when not being read.A must-have for Orwell fans and just brilliant to look at on a bookshelf when not being read. Highly recommended for anyone who enjoys thought-provoking fiction.

A cracking deal when discounted. RRP's a bit steep.
The works of Eric Blair, better known as George Orwell, are out of copyright in the UK, so would-be readers could find most of them online free or at minimal cost, as they're in the public domain. That might explain why this set is currently available at a modest £24.99, rather than the full RRP of £89.90.But I think owning your own copies of such classics will continue to hold appeal, in spite of being able to find them online. It's not a compendium of all his works, but some of the best-known, including all six novels. I have read most before, but not all. "The Clergyman's Daughter" is new to me, as is ”The Lion and The Unicorn”, and of the collection of essays, I have read only the titular "Shooting an Elephant".£24.99 for ten paperbacks was such a keen price that I had some qualms about what might turn up.Not from a literary standpoint, obviously; George Orwell has rightly earned his place in the Western canon without needing any endorsement from me. But what would the paper or print quality be like?I needn't have worried. Whilst the paper is not premium quality, it's perfectly acceptable, and the print seems clear, stable (not smudged or bleeding) and reasonably-sized. Naturally I haven't been able to read all the books yet, but found no misprints in the random pages I chose to examine. The cover artwork of all the books is bold and striking, featuring neon colours. The cardboard case that houses them at first seemed to feature a red rose design, which, on closer inspection, turned out to be pigs, echoing the cover-art of "Animal Farm"! I wasn't sure about the choice of pigs for something that might be a gift. If the recipient knows their Orwell, they'll probably understand instantly, but it might appear a bit rude. For £24.99, or less than £2.50 per book, it's a cracking set. I wouldn't pay £89.90 though.
