Marble Solitaire - Made in USA

Recently I saw this marble solitaire game at an AirBnB apartment, and I fell in love with it! When I searched for a similar game on Amazon, lots of possible sets came up, so I chose the one “Made in America.” I’m so happy I did, as the woodworkers at Maple Landmark in Middlebury, VT have made a beautiful game that is like a piece of art. This piece is carefully made, and it will look lovely on our coffee table.

When I was a child I used to play this game a lot. Now I'm 58 years old and bought it again. This a fun brain teaser that entertains me while my husband watches sports on TV or while TV commercials are on, while I'm watching a movie.Marble solitaire or solitaire chess is a strategy game in which a player attempts to rid the game board of marbles by jumping pieces into empty spaces and removing jumped marbles, similar to jumping pieces in checkers. The ultimate goal of the game is to be left with one remaining marble in the game board's center space.This wood solitaire board unlike a smaller version I previously bought has the right size. It's made out of solid wood and the holes for the marbles are placed far enough from each other so when you make a play your fingers won't bump the marbles next to the one you are moving and evidently won't fall out. Even if occasionally they happen to slip out of your fingers they will roll and land on a groove that surrounds the game board. Also, this version of solitaire chess has 4 more holes (and therefore 4 more marbles) on the corners and that makes it even more interesting to play with given the difficult level.I leave it on my coffee table so that anyone passing by can give it a go.It's a quick game for some immediate gratification.

A wonderful, simple, addictive game! The premise is simple: remove all the marbles from the board by hopping over each marble into an open space (like checkers) until you can't make any more moves. The goal is to end with just a single marble left, and if you're really good, that single marble in the center hole. (I'm not there yet.) It's great to have sitting on a table (in a small-kid free house--lots of marbles) and just play at any time, for a minute or an hour. Very relaxing.I love that the board is made in the USA. It's well crafted, and the black marbles make a handsome combination that looks great on display. Highly recommended.

I think this is a great toy. The wood board is thick (but not heavy) and is beautiful. I like the groove around the edge - marbles don't roll off the board in case you accidentally bump a marble. You can also store the marbles that you jump over in the groove. One reviewer felt the black marbles are boring, but I think they look really good on the board. Fun game for anyone to play. Nice alternative to computer games. Rules for more than one way to play are engraved (very attractively) on the back of the board. Highly recommended. The only (small) problem I had is the pouch for the marbles is very cheap. I can probably find an inexpensive pouch at a craft store to replace it, made much better than the one provided. Otherwise, I love the toy!

The finish of the wooden board is nothing special. I would have liked it to be more polished and varnished nicely. But it does the job.

I bought this for a gift, and was seriously disappointed when it was opened on a birthday. There are two, maybe three different size black marbles. From sitting nice and manageable to sinking in, far enough to be a problem to get it out....The board is good, but don't expect to get what the pictures are displaying as the product that was dispatched. Waiting to get the pictures of the different sized marbles and shall load them up.Just sell the board, if you are not able to send the proper sized marbles.I bought ball bearings to replace the marbles. 5/8 inches does the trick. HINT TO THE SELLER!!

It’s nice, but it’s a bit small. I guess I was expecting bigger. Other than that it’s a great game to play and makes a great decor piece. Good buy

I ordered this when feeling nostalgic, as it reminds me of being at my grandparents'. They had this puzzle on their coffee table, and I played with it every time we visited. My grandmother finally showed me how to solve it and I have never forgotten! It's a little smaller than I remember my grandparents', but it's sturdy. I ordered different marbles for it as I wanted some that were more colorful. I like that the instructions are on the back, and I also like that it was made in the USA. I am glad to have it as it makes my heart smile every time I see it!
